Abstract

Endoscopic ultrasound liver biopsy has been used more frequently to investigate liver diseases and has continued its development for use in investigating focal lesions and diseases of the liver parenchyma. Given its high sensitivity, it is a tool that allows a more precise stratification to determine the treatment in various liver diseases.
Although in recent years there have been many advances in medicine, specifically in the area of non-invasive studies for the diagnosis of diseases, not only serological but also the increase in the definition of various radiographic techniques and the use of fibroscan for stratification of liver fibrosis, up to Today the reference test (gold standard) for the diagnosis, fibrosis stratification and therapeutic guide of liver parenchymal diseases continues to be the biopsy. Although the use of liver biopsy has decreased in diseases such as hepatitis C and nonalcoholic fatty liver, it is still used to establish the diagnosis of other diseases, such as autoimmune liver disease and infiltrative liver diseases and for settings where the diagnosis is not Sure.
