Abstract

It is a pleasure to put a grain of sand in the titanic task that is coming from many, to whom I join, in favor of a better task from the scientific point of view above all with the firm conviction that these efforts will lead of by means of a better happening to the decisions of our daily life as a doctor.
I wanted to write this first article about one of the most essential molecules in the day-to-day life of a clinician, resident, emergency doctor and obviously an Endocrinologist, facets that I did at various times in my life: INSULIN after 100 years.
Actually, a few months ago we celebrated its invention by Bantin and Best, one of the milestones that changed the history of world pharmacology, the lives of many children and adults in the world and that gave a turn to the management of metabolic pathologies. .
We know that today, according to the International Diabetes Federation, we have more than 500 million people with diabetes in the world. It is also known that of this percentage between 8 to 12% of them have access to insulin, beyond the fact that there are authors who mention that approximately 20-30% already have insulin needs.
