Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The citation order of the text should be checked according to the order of appearance in the text, that is, starting from the alphabetical order
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a blind review have been followed.
  • Check your similarity index (similarity checker software), all submissions must be less than 15% and matches from a single source must not be greater than 3%. Please remove your paper from the Turnitin/iThenticate repository before submitting it to Revista Ciencia y Avance.

Author Guidelines

ARTICLE FORMAT

About the appropriate language and style for writing articles:

Authors should use simple sentence structures, avoiding those that are too long or complex.

The vocabulary used must be basic and common. Technical language should be briefly explained; In addition, the meaning of the acronyms must be given the first time they appear in the text.

Authors are responsible for their work being done in a professional and ethical manner.

About Items Length

Articles should be limited to between 6 and 12 pages in A4 size and single spaced, with symmetrical margins of 2 cm.

Only in the case of review articles, these 12 pages do not include references.

About the presentation format

All manuscripts must be written correctly in Spanish or English, complying with the following indications:

They must include, without exception, title, name and surname(s) of each author (without titles or positions); the institutional departments in which they are assigned, the name and current address of the author responsible for the correspondence, the full text, tables and figures. The texts must be in Word word processor (It would be necessary to indicate if they prefer a specific version, example: Word 2003).

Times New Roman at 12 points

Double column, single space.

All margins 2 cm.

Paragraphs must be justified without spaces between consecutive words and without breaks.

Do not include page breaks or section endings.

If you want to emphasize words or phrases in the text, do not use bold letters but rather italics.

Decimals must be marked with a comma (,) and not with a period (.).

Thousands and millions should be marked with a thin space.

Avoid footnotes.

Arabic nomenclature should be used only up to the third level.

About article structure

The works must have the following structure and meet the following requirements:

Composition of an article

All articles submitted for evaluation and possible publication by the Revista Ciencia y Avance must have at least the following components:

Title in English and Spanish (mandatory).
Summary in English and Spanish (mandatory).
Keywords in English and Spanish (required).
Introduction (required).
Materials and Method (mandatory).
Results (required).
Discussion (required).
Conclusions (required).
Future work (optional).
Acknowledgments (optional).
Bibliographic references.

Resume

It will be presented in a maximum of 200 words, and will indicate the purpose of the research, the basic procedures (sample selection, analytical and observational methods); main findings (specific data and, where possible, their statistical significance), as well as the relevant conclusions and the originality of the research. The abstract must be structured with the following sections: Objective, Material, Methods, Results and Conclusions. At the end, 3 to 6 keywords will be noted, to facilitate inclusion in international indexes. It is recommended to use the terms of the Medical Subject Headings of the most recent Index Medicus.

Summary in English

It will be written in a maximum of 200 words with the same characteristics as the abstract in Spanish. It will start with a version of the job title in the English language. 3 to 6 key words will also be indicated. It is suggested that this paragraph be reviewed by an experienced translator, in order to guarantee its quality.

Keywords

The keywords must be written in alphabetical order and must be as standard as possible, for which the use of international databases according to the area of ​​knowledge is suggested. For example, in the area of ​​Electricity and Electronics, it is suggested to use the IEEE thesaurus and the World Bank thesaurus, which can be accessed on the following web pages, respectively:

Keywords should be written in the order of the English version and should be as standard as possible, so the use of international databases is suggested according to the area of ​​knowledge. Editorial

This section will be dedicated to the analysis and reflection on the health problems of the population, the different preventive and therapeutic approaches, as well as the progress made in the field of biomedical research. Editorials will only be accepted by invitation of the editor. Maximum length 2 pages and 5 references.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE

Its content presents the results of original clinical or basic research. In original articles, the body of the manuscript must be structured in Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions. Maximum length 20 pages, 6 figures, 6 tables and 50 references.

REVIEW ARTICLE

It will be on a topical and medically relevant topic. Only review articles will be accepted by invitation of the editor. The main or corresponding author must be an authority in the area or subject being reviewed and must attach a bibliographic list of their contributions that supports their experience in the subject. Maximum length 15 pages, 6 figures, 6 tables and 45 references.

CLINICAL CASE

The clinical cases present a real case of a patient of the clinic. They must include an abstract in Spanish and English (maximum 100 words) in free format, introduction, case presentation, discussion, illustrations and bibliography. Maximum length 10 pages, 6 figures, 6 tables and 30 references. Most of the accepted clinical cases will be published in a supplement to the journal rather than in a regular issue.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

It is an open forum for the expression of both private opinions regarding medical topics of varied interest, as well as the content of the articles published in our journal. Maximum length 1 page, 1 figure, 1 table and 5 references.

Copyright Notice

Submitted papers must be accompanied by a letter signed by all the authors of the paper, stating that it has not been previously published, nor has it been sent simultaneously to another journal, that there is no conflict of interest and in case of be accepted assign the copyright to the HTMC magazine. The opinions contained in the article are the responsibility of the authors.

Articles will not be accepted for review if they are not prepared in accordance with the Instructions for Authors.
